Reiki, Mukti, and energy exploration
October 23, 2011
It's been a crazy couple of months, so lots has been happening.
First off, and to get the unfortunate stuff out of the way - Aleesha and I attended a day-long silent meditation led by Mukti, a follower (and wife) of Adyashanti. Aleesha had been very excited about the event as she read one of Adyashanti's books and thought the stuff he wrote about was very cool and spoke to what she (and I) believe. Excitement turned quickly into disappointment when it became very clear that Mukti had no desire to be there and that the "silent meditation" was in fact mostly her talking. Very disappointing.
I am now a Reiki Master/Teacher. Many thanks to my Reiki teacher Aleesha. It's been transformative for me.
One of the ways it has been transformative is in the way energy flows for me. There is an expansiveness to it that is simply wonderful. And I'd like to share how:
I wrote in a prior post about the word and gesture of gratitude a First Nation's band uses - the word (phonetically pronounced) O-C-M and the hand gesture with both hands coming up to the heart and then lowering down. It sort of looks and feels like it's love being given from the heart to the recipient of the gesture. I felt a powerful surge of energy/love develop within myself at the time I discovered this for myself earlier this year.
My new discovery is in sharing that love with Aleesha. I wanted to have something that said "I love you" but was far more concrete and active than simply saying words. So I began to use the O-C-M gesture with her, sending a wave of love out to her that she clearly felt (I did it when she wasn't looking and she could still feel the wave of it). She began to share it back, and we've both been working with it, to the point that when we mutually do the gesture, we can feel a giant expansive ball of energy that we both mesh with. It's heady, warm, and very comforting. I will certainly be experimenting with it more as I do more Reiki work.
